Held at the National Convention Center from June 3–5, the congress is a significant political event for the country's working class and trade union organization as Viet Nam enters a new stage of development with both opportunities and challenges arising from rapid economic transformation and technological advancement.

During the three-day event, delegates will review the implementation of the Resolution of the Viet Nam Trade Union Congress for the 2023–2026 tenure, discuss orientations and tasks for the next five years, and elect the Executive Committee of the Viet Nam General Confederation of Labor for the 14th tenure.

The congress reflects the determination of the Viet Nam Trade Union to build a comprehensively strong organization that provide reliable support for workers and union members while remaining a solid socio-political foundation of the Party and State.

Addressing the congress, delegates emphasized that the trade union movement is entering a period marked by profound changes in labor relations, production methods and workforce structure. The rapid growth of the private and informal sectors, coupled with the accelerating impacts of automation, artificial intelligence and digital transformation, is reshaping employment, income patterns and skill requirements across industries.

Against this backdrop, the trade union organization is expected not only to continue caring for workers' welfare but also to strengthen its representative role in safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of employees in an increasingly market-oriented labor environment.

A key feature of the congress is the adoption of a renewed development mindset for the 2026–2031 tenure. The new approach places workers at the center of all activities, identifies grassroots organizations as the focal point of action, and promotes dialogue, collective bargaining and policy advocacy as effective tools for protecting workers' interests.

At the same time, digital transformation, science, technology and innovation are expected to become major drivers for improving the effectiveness and responsiveness of trade union operations./.
