Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh made the above statement at a reception for a business delegation from the U.S. State of California led by Mayor of Oakland city Sheng Thao in Ha Noi on August 1.
Pham underlined that Viet Nam always regards the U.S. as one of its leading partners.
He expects to cement and deepen the bilateral ties in a practical and effective manner for the sake of the two peoples and for peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the Asia-Pacific region.
The Prime Minister highly valued the sound relations between Viet Nam and California, including Oakland city, especially their economic, trade and seaport cooperation.
California is one of the leading locality partners of Viet Nam as nearly 100 businesses from the state have invested in the Southeast Asian nation, which in turn has carried out more than 70 investment projects in California.
The host leader took the occasion to call upon the Oakland Mayor and other California officials to continue helping develop relations with Viet Nam, particularly in economy, trade, investment, and people-to-people exchanges, and act as a bridge linking the U.S. and Viet Nam as well as their businesses.
He also suggested Oakland continue facilitating delegation exchanges and information sharing so as to enhance the mutual understanding between its communities and Vietnamese localities.
He also called on the U.S. city's authorities to support Vietnamese people to integrate into the local society.
In reply, Mayor Thao expressed her impression of the dynamic growth rate and beauty of Viet Nam.
She affirmed that Oakland would promote the friendship and result-oriented cooperation with Viet Nam in the fields that the city and California are strong at, especially transportation, logistics, high technology, digital economy and innovation, contributing to the fine relations between California and Viet Nam./.
