Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh holds talks with Polish counterpart Donald Tusk in Warsaw
VGP – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh held talks with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk in Warsaw on Thursday as part of his ongoing three-day official visit to Poland.
The visit is of significant importance as marks the start of the year when the two countries celebrate the 75th founding anniversary of diplomatic relations (1950-2025).
Tusk, who is a former European Council President, affirmed Viet Nam is always a close, long-standing traditional friend, and currently one of the top partners of Poland in Southeast Asia.
Pham thanked Poland for its valuable support for Viet Nam’s struggle for national liberation in the past and the current national construction and development cause.
He congratulated Poland on becoming the 20th largest economy in the world, expressing his belief that Poland will continue strong development momentum in the future.
Pham also congratulated Poland on assuming the EU’s rotating Presidency, expresing his belief that Poland will make positive contributions to the comprehensive development of the Union.
The two leaders agreed to consider lifting up the Viet Nam-Poland relations to a new height based on the high level of political trust and the fine achievements in bilateral cooperation over the last 75 years.
Tusk promised that his country supports the EC’s removal of “yellow card” warning against Vietnamese seafood exports to the EU, and will soon ratify the EU-Viet Nam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA).
Both sides agreed to continue to effectively implement the signed agreements, foster cooperation in defense-security, trade-investment, science and technology, transport, education and training, culture-tourism while expanding cooperation to potential areas like renewable energy, digital transformation, information technology, labor, and agriculture among others.
The two sides also agreed to continue close coordination and mutual support at multilateral forums and international organizations to contribute to peace, security, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
