Prime Minister meets WEF President Borge Brende
VGP – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met President of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Borge Brende on the sidelines of the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates on December 2.
Brende congratulated on Viet Nam's positive economic achievements amid global economic slowdown, adding that a recent survey showed Viet Nam is one of the world's leading economies in attracting foreign direct investment, along with India and Mexico.
He said that the WEF has coordinated with the Municipal People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to prepare for the construction of the 4th Industrial Revolution Center there.
The WEF and the Vietnamese Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment have discussed ways to foster cooperation in public-private partnership, science and technology, deal with plastic waste, and formulate policies to realize Viet Nam's climate commitments at the COP26, according to Brende.
He invited Prime Minister Pham to attend the WEF annual meeting 2024 in Davos, Switzerland.
Prime Minister Pham spoke highly of WEF's support and assistance as well as macro-economic recommendations for Viet Nam.
He said the Vietnamese side would consider Brende's invitation and reply soon./.
