S.Jaishankar extended his deep condolences over the passing of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

The Indian Government attaches importance to the Vietnamese PM's visit, he reiterated, expressing his belief that the visit will create a strong impetus for Viet Nam-India relations in the time ahead.

The diplomat vowed to work closely with the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs to further strengthen bilateral ties.

Pham, for his part, hailed the successful outcomes of the 18th Viet Nam-India Joint Commission meeting by the two foreign ministers in September 2023.

He also highly appraised both sides' efforts to finalize the Action Plan for the Viet Nam-India comprehensive strategic partnership for 2024-2028, which includes many new initiatives.

The host suggested both nations increase all-level delegation exchanges; enhance locality-to-locality linkages and people-to-people exchanges; as well as promote economic, trade and investment ties and soon raise the bilateral trade value to US$20 billion.

He underlined the need to expand collaboration in fields of green transition, digital transformation, innovation, semiconductor chips, and artificial intelligence.

Both sides pledged to bolster cooperation at international and regional forums, and voice their support for ASEAN's principled stance on the East Sea issue./.
