Wong congratulated Le on his election as the Vietnamese Prime Minister for the 2026–2031 term, expressing his desire to work closely together with Le to further strengthen the Viet Nam–Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in a robust, substantive, and effective manner.
Singapore treasures its relationship with Viet Nam, expecting to enhance high-level exchanges, cooperation in economy, defense and security, and other areas with Viet Nam, contributing to regional peace, stability, and development, he emphasized.
Singapore will increase the total number of Viet Nam-Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIPs) in Viet Nam to 30 this year to mark the 30th anniversary of this successful model in Viet Nam, shared the Singaporean leader.
He reaffirmed Singapore's commitment to supporting Viet Nam in training and developing human resources, especially strategic-level officials, via new training agreements and expanding the Singapore Cooperation Program to localities across Viet Nam.
Wong expressed his confidence that bilateral relations will continue to grow strongly and highlighted the ambition to achieve breakthroughs in new areas such as carbon credit exchange and cooperation in ensuring food security.
He took the occasion to invite the Vietnamese Prime Minister to pay an official visit to Singapore.
Le, for his part, noted that Viet Nam will soon introduce new policies to attract more foreign investment, including those from Singapore.
He suggested Singapore support Viet Nam in developing the international financial center and upgrading the network of next-generation VSIP associated with high-tech transfer.
The Vietnamese leader urged the two countries to strengthen ASEAN cooperation in 2027, when Singapore will serve as ASEAN Chair and Viet Nam will host APEC.
Le also called on both countries to enhance defense and security cooperation, double efforts to combat transnational crime, support the development and operation of the national data center, high-performance computing center, and artificial intelligence center, and promote effective and substantive negotiations on the Code of Conduct (COC) in the East Sea.
The two leaders vowed to continue strengthening political trust, promoting delegation exchanges and high-level contacts at all levels, and maintaining the effectiveness of existing cooperation mechanisms, including the annual meeting mechanism between the two Prime Ministers.
The pair pledged to soon implement a strategic dialogue mechanism between the two ruling parties in 2026 and join hands in ensuring energy security.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to prioritizing resources for effectively implementing the action program on the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for the 2025–2030 period.
The two Prime Ministers agreed to explore the possibility of signing an intergovernmental agreement on cross-border trade of low-carbon electricity, creating a legal framework to ensure the successful implementation of offshore wind power export from Viet Nam to Singapore./.
