The Prime Minister spoke highly and expressed thanks to AstraZeneca and Kapoor for their practical and effective contributions to Viet Nam, especially in the fight against COVID-19.

AstraZeneca fulfilled its commitment ahead of schedule by supplying the full 30 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine to Viet Nam at a reduced price under very difficult conditions, he noted.

AstraZeneca has invested nearly US$100 million in Viet Nam's pharmaceutical sector, allocated US$50 million for forest and landscape restoration, implemented various cooperation programs in collaboration with the Vietnamese Ministry of Health, and contributed VND1.2 billion (US$47,000) to support the nation's recovery efforts following the damage caused by Typhoon Yagi, told Pham.

He urged AstraZeneca to continue investing, transferring technology, and providing consultation for the development of Viet Nam's vaccine and pharmaceutical industry, as well as community healthcare.

Pham called on the company to contribute to forest development, and social welfare, and support for disadvantaged groups in Viet Nam.

For his part, Kapoor said AstraZeneca will continue to accompany Viet Nam in achieving its set goals, committing to supporting the country's sustainable development, boosting GDP growth, and achieving net-zero emissions via reforestation.

He vowed to assist the nation in fostering biomass energy development, carbon credit initiatives, and programs on disease prevention, and early detection.

Kapoor expressed his desire to strengthen cooperation with Viet Nam's partners, especially the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.

AstraZeneca is a multinational biotechnology and pharmaceutical corporation from the United Kingdom and Sweden. The company is operating in over 100 countries and is among the world's largest pharmaceutical firms. AstraZeneca Viet Nam was established in 1994 and is currently leading clinical trials in the country./.
