Nitin Kapor told the Deputy PM some cooperation projects and programs in Viet Nam on enhancing patients' access to drugs, developing sustainable health systems, improving public health, and conducting research clinical trials of drugs and biological products.

The corporation is actively joining hands with Vietnamese agencies and partners to carry out a US$50 million project to plant 22.5 million trees on 30,500ha, in an attempt to develop biodiversity and support sustainable livelihoods of more than 17,000 households, he noted.

For his part, Tran expressed his delight on cooperation activities AstraZeneca has launched in Viet Nam, particularly in vaccines and biological drugs.

He voiced his support for the corporation in reducing emissions and neutralizing carbon emissions, adding that developing nations like Viet Nam need to receive more assistance and get access to different solutions to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Regarding Astra Zeneca's project to plant 22.5 million trees in Viet Nam, the Deputy PM assigned the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Department of Climate Change, under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to work with the corporation to launch the project.

He expected that AstraZeneca will take part in net-zero and Just Energy Transition Partnership projects in Viet Nam.

The health of people and the environment is a close bond, therefore restoring and protecting nature is extremely important in minimizing financial burdens for health problems triggered by environmental pollution, the Deputy PM said.

Tran discussed the recommendations proposed by AstraZeneca Group regarding the harmonization of Viet Nam's regulations with international standards and practices in production, clinical trials, drug marketing authorization and marketing, biological products and forest carbon credit management./.
