President sends message celebrating 80 years of the UN
VGP - President Luong Cuong delivered a congratulatory message on the occasion of the 80th founding anniversary of the United Nations (UN).

The message was sent in response to the initiative of President of the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly, Ambassador Philemon Yang.
In his message, Luong affirmed that over the past 80 years, the UN has ignited faith and hope in lasting peace and sustainable development for all nations and peoples, demonstrating the significance and enduring vitality of multilateralism.
The Vietnamese leader highlighted the UN's irreplaceable role in realizing humanity's aspiration for a better world built on such values as national independence, sovereignty, justice, and social progress.
In the context of increasingly complex and unpredictable international and regional developments, the State leader called on nations to strongly uphold multilateralism, enhance international cooperation and solidarity, and adhere to international law and the UN Charter.
He underscored the importance of respecting the principles of national independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, non-interference in internal affairs, refraining from the use or threat of force, and resolving disputes by peaceful means.
It is the time for the UN to undergo strong reform to better adapt to the new context and enhance its effectiveness and efficiency in fulfilling its missions, suggested he stressed.
Viet Nam will continue to be a reliable partner and an active and responsible member, working alongside the UN and the international community to address difficulties, overcome challenges, and jointly promote peace, stability, cooperation, and prosperous development in every nation, region, and across the globe, bringing happiness and well-being to all people, reiterated Luong.
