Politburo orders promoting intellectual property work in favor of socio-economic development
VGP - Intellectual property rights are an important national resource, according to the recently-issued Conclusion of the Politburo on promoting intellectual property work to serve socio-economic development in the next context.
The creation, exploitation, and protection of intellectual property rights are essential for enhancing competitiveness, generating sustainable growth, and safeguarding the country's future development. There must be a strong shift from an administrative management mindset toward fostering and developing an intellectual property ecosystem.
Intellectual property should become an important component of the national development strategy, the science, technology and innovation development strategy, the strategy for developing strategic industries, and the strategy for developing high-quality human resources.
Accordingly, Viet Nam will build a culture of respect for creativity and protection of intellectual property rights throughout society; firmly criticize and strictly handle acts of IP infringement, such as the use of pirated software, plagiarism and academic misconduct, and violations of copyright, patents, industrial designs, and other intellectual property rights.
The nation will develop a modern, comprehensive intellectual property framework that effectively adapts to the digital economy as well as improve the effectiveness of intellectual property rights protection mechanisms in the digital environment, particularly in the context of rapid AI development.
Viet Nam will develop the intellectual property rights market, improve mechanisms for valuing intellectual property rights and encourage enterprises with long-term business strategies to make substantial investments in research and technological development.
A national program on intellectual property development will be issued.
The Politburo has called for enhancing the effectiveness of intellectual property enforcement and protection, strictly handling violations in the digital environment and decisively putting an end to the unauthorized use of intellectual property rights.
The country will safeguard national security in technology, data, and trade secrets in accordance with international practices while allocating resources to fulfill commitments under international treaties to which Viet Nam is a party and other intellectual property obligations that the nation has undertaken./.
