PM Pham Minh Chinh meets Cambodian counterpart in Melbourne

Pham congratulated Cambodia on successfully organizing the recent Senate election, saying the results of the election further affirmed the leadership role of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) in Cambodia.

He took the occasion to convey his warmest congratulations to Samdech Techo Hun Sen and other senior leaders of the CPP, and conveyed greetings of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and other senior leaders of Viet Nam to King Norodom Sihamoni and Samdech Techo Hun Sen.

The Vietnamese Prime Minister also commended Cambodia on sound economic development achievements recorded in recent times.

The pair expressed their pleasure at the recent positive and stable development of Viet Nam – Cambodia relations, agreeing to maintain regular visits and high-level contacts and effectively cooperative frameworks.

They also agreed to coordinate in deploying the existing agreements and mechanisms on national defense and security, and make further efforts to complete the 16 percent remaining workload of border demarcation in order to build a border of peace, friendship, cooperation and sustainable development between the two countries.

Hun Manet pledged to create conditions for people of Vietnamese origin in Cambodia to stabilize their lives, integrate into their host country, and act as a bridge of friendship between the two countries. He also said Cambodia will continue to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese businesses to invest and do business successfully in Cambodia.

Hun Manet suggested the two sides increase the frequency of flights between the two countries to boost tourism and trade connections.

The two leaders agreed to maintain close cooperation between the two countries as well as with Laos and Thailand to enhance transport connectivity in order to tap the tourism potential of the countries./.
