PM attends groundbreaking ceremony of social housing project in Bac Giang

The bridge started construction in April 2022 with a total cost of over VND456 billion (or US$19.8 million). It has a total length of about 439.15 meters and a width of 16 meters.

Lying on Ha Noi-Bac Giang expressway, crossing Cau river, the bridge aims to deal with traffic congestion, mitigate accidents, and improve the capacity of tapping Ha Noi–Bac Giang–Lang Son expressway.

The project is expected to contribute to drawing more capital to Bac Giang's industrial parks and socio-economic development.

The same day, the Prime Minister attended the groundbreaking ceremony for a second-phase social housing project for workers in Nenh town in Viet Yen district of Bac Giang province.

The project, covering a total area of up to 12.6ha, consists of 16 storey apartment buildings and is estimated to cost nearly VND5 trillion (US$212.5 million). It is expected to provide 7,000 apartments for over 20,000 workers in the province.

In the first stage, 800 apartments will be delivered by the end of 2023.

Earlier, the government approved a plan to build one million social housing units by 2030 by mobilizing VND849 trillion (US$36.2 billion) from private and public sources.

The demand for social housing in the country is projected to reach 2.4 million units by 2030, out of which 1.2 million units will be needed by 2025.

Moreover, among the 2.7 million workers in industrial parks, 1.2 million need housing. The country has finished 301 projects, providing 155,800 units of urban social housing and housing for industrial park workers.

Additionally, there are over 400 ongoing projects, which will provide around 454,360 apartments./.
