The visit reaffirms Viet Nam's steadfast foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation, development, and the diversification and multilateralization of international relations.
It also underscores the nation's resolve to proactively and comprehensively integrate into the global community, positioning Viet Nam as a reliable friend, trusted partner, and responsible member of the international community.
The visit coincides with the 15th anniversary of the Viet Nam–UK Strategic Partnership (2010–2025), offering both sides an opportunity to review progress, celebrate achievements, and shape a new vision for future cooperation.
The General Secretary's trip is expected to create new momentum for bilateral ties, especially in areas where both sides have complementary strengths. It will help advance major Politburo policies on science, technology, innovation, international integration, institutional reform, private sector development, education, healthcare, and energy security.
She expressed confidence that the visit will usher in a new phase of sustainable and long-term development in Viet Nam–UK relations, in line with the interests and priorities of both countries and contributing to regional and global peace, stability, and prosperity.
The visit also reflects Viet Nam's high regard for its traditional Western European partners, including the UK, in its broader diplomatic and integration strategy. The trip comes as bilateral relations continue to flourish, supported by frequent high-level exchanges that strengthen political trust and bolster Viet Nam's position in Europe, the Commonwealth, and beyond.
Dialogue mechanisms and cooperation frameworks are maintained annually across diplomacy, security and defense, UN peacekeeping, maritime issues, and crime prevention.
Economically, the UK is Viet Nam's third-largest trading partner in Europe, while Viet Nam is the UK's biggest partner in Southeast Asia.
The UK currently has 587 investment projects in Viet Nam worth around US$4.46 billion, ranking 15th among 152 foreign investors. Since the signing of a post-Brexit free trade agreement, bilateral trade has grown steadily.
In science and technology, the two countries have jointly carried out around 50 research projects. The UK also plays a major coordinating role in supporting Viet Nam's implementation of the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP). It remains a key development partner through programs such as the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, the Newton Fund, and the Climate Action for a Resilient Asia initiative.
Education and cultural ties are likewise strong, with more than 12,000 Vietnamese students pursuing studies in the UK, alongside expanding cooperation in culture, sports, and people-to-people exchanges.
These achievements reflect the strong commitment of both sides, together with the contributions of their businesses and citizens — creating a solid basis for the upcoming visit, which is expected to elevate the partnership to new heights.
Le said the trip will help enforce existing agreements, launch new cooperation mechanisms, deepen traditional areas of collaboration, and open fresh avenues suited to each country's demands amid a rapidly evolving global landscape./.
