To Lam starts tour to Mongolia, Ireland and France

The visits are made at the invitation of Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, Irish President Michael D. Higgins and French President Emmanuel Macron.

Via the visits, the Vietnamese Party and State attach to the traditional friendship with Mongolia, the friendship and multi-faceted cooperation with Ireland and the strategic partnership with France.

In addition, the visits aim to spur coordination with these countries in addressing regional and world issues, and seek their continued support for the overseas Vietnamese community.

The top Vietnamese leader is accompanied by Secretary of Ha Noi Municipal Party Committee Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Chief of Party Central Committee Office Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Chairman of the Central Commission for External Relations Le Hoai Trung, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son, Head of the Central Mass Mobilization Commission Mai Van Chinh, Chairman of the President Office Le Khanh Hai, Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee for Social Affairs Nguyen Thuy Anh.

The entourage also includes Minister of Home Affairs Pham Thi Thanh Tra, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan, Minister off Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung, Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thang, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan, Minister of Justice Nguyen Hai Ninh, Deputy Minister of National Defense Pham Hoai Nam.

To's state visit to Mongolia holds special significance when the two countries are marking the 70th anniversary of their diplomatic relationship and their ties are at the best stage of development, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son told reporters ahead of the visit.

To is expected to discuss with Mongolian leaders major orientations and measures to further enhance political trust and promote cooperation in fields of priority, particularly in politics, diplomacy, economy, trade, tourism and people to people exchange.

Mongolia has offered Viet Nam strong support both materially and spiritually during Viet Nam's struggle for national liberation. The two countries now support each other in national construction and maintain close cooperation through Party, State, Government and people-people channels.

Bilateral cooperation in economy, trade, and investment will be promoted in a more substantive, effective, and comprehensive manner, with trade promotion activities and efforts to connect businesses to be enhanced, and policies on improving the investment environment, and investment encouragement and protection strengthened to attract investment from both countries.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Mongolia Nguyen Tuan Thanh was quoted as saying that the visit play a significant role in orienting and opening up new prospects for bilateral cooperation, and create fresh momentum in various fields, particularly in trade, agriculture, and transportation.

Over the past 70 years, the traditional friendship and cooperation have ceaselessly developed and achieved numerous accomplishments. Currently, based on mutual understanding and respect, this relationship is increasingly being strengthened, particularly in the areas of security, defense, economy, and trade.

The two countries have achieved a high level of political understanding and trust, considering each other as important partners, as reflected through the regular exchange of high-level delegations, the sharing of views on maintaining regional peace and stability, and the signing of various documents that establish frameworks for bilateral cooperation.

The two nations have actively cooperated in areas such as UN peacekeeping operations and enhanced coordination and mutual support at various international forums, including the UN, the World Trade Organization (WTO), the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF), and other regional organizations.

The bilateral trade turnover reached over US$130 million in 2023./.
