To Lam meets Mongolian Prime Minister, top legislator
VGP - General Secretary and President To Lam had separate meetings with Mongolian Prime Minister Luvsannamsrain Oyun-Erdene and Chairman of the Parliament Dashzegve Amarbayasgalan in Ulaanbaatar on September 30, as part of his two-day state visit to the East Asian country.
At the meeting with the Mongolian Prime Minister, the two leaders expressed their delight at the elevation of bilateral ties to a comprehensive partnership.
They agreed to further enhance political trust by maintaining the exchange of all-level delegations, step up substantial and mutually beneficial cooperation to create a significant shift in economic, trade, and investment relations, and further uphold the role of the Viet Nam-Mongolia Inter-governmental Committee.
Both sides agreed to actively encourage firms to join trade promotion programs and business connectivity initiatives in each country, aiming for stable growth in trade cooperation.
The leaders stressed the importance of deepening people-to-people exchanges, as well as cultural and educational collaboration, while promoting broader joint work in labor, sci-tech, information and communications.
To thanked the Mongolian Government and people for their support of US$200,000 to help locals in northern Viet Nam recover from the damage caused by recent Typhoon Yagi.
Oyun-Erdene wished to further expand cooperation with Viet Nam in various fields, including politics, national defense-security, economy-trade, education, sci-tech, transportation, logistics, culture, sports, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges, as well as at multilateral forums and mechanisms that match bilateral comprehensive partnership.
Meanwhile, during the meeting with the top Mongolian legislator, both sides concurred to continue effectively and comprehensive carrying out the cooperation agreements between the two parliaments in 2018 and boosting the exchanges of high-level delegations and those of young parliamentarians.
The two parliaments should enhance the bridging role of the friendship parliamentarian group while pushing ahead consultation coordination and support for each other at inter-parliamentary forums such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership, and Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum as well as discussing regional and international issues of mutual concerns, they noted.
They vowed to open their markets to each other's goods on a reciprocal basis with a view to achieving the goal of raising two-way trade turnover to US$200 million soon.
Both leaders pledged to step up the popularization of tourism potential and strength, sharing of tourism policies and tourism management and development experience and promotion of local cooperation./.
