Over 2,440 greenhouse gas-emitting facilities required to conduct greenhouse gas inventories
VGP - Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung has signed a Decision promulgating an updated list of sectors and greenhouse gas-emitting facilities required to conduct greenhouse gas inventories.
This is part of Viet Nam's efforts to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
According to the Decision, six sectors required to conduct greenhouse gas inventories, including:
(1) Energy (including energy production industries; energy consumption in industry, commerce, services and residential activities; coal mining; and oil and natural gas extraction);
(2) Transport (energy consumption in transport sector);
(3) Construction (including energy consumption in construction sector and industrial processes involved in the production of construction materials);
(4) Industrial processes (including chemical production; metallurgy; electronics industry; the use of substitutes for ozone-depleting substances; and the production and use of other industrial products);
(5) Agriculture, forestry and land use (including livestock production; forestry and land-use change; crop production; energy consumption in agriculture, forestry and fisheries; and other emission sources in agriculture);
(6) Waste (including solid waste landfills; biological treatment of solid waste; waste incineration and open burning; and wastewater treatment and discharge).
The list of greenhouse gas-emitting facilities under the Ministry of Industry and Trade that are required to conduct greenhouse gas inventories comprises 1,916 facilities.
The list of greenhouse gas-emitting facilities under the construction sector comprises 53 facilities in transport sector and 411 facilities in construction sector.
The list of greenhouse gas-emitting facilities under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment comprises 61 facilities.
The Decision will take effect on September 25, 2026./.
