The quotas will be allocated to 34 thermal power plants, 25 iron and steel production facilities, and 51 cement production facilities, as follows:

(i) The total pilot greenhouse gas emission quota for 2025 is 243,082,392 tons of CO₂ equivalent (CO₂e).

(ii) The total pilot greenhouse gas emission quota for 2026 is 268,391,454 tons of CO₂e.

Viet Nam pledged at COP26 to achieve 'net-zero' emissions by 2050 and reduce global methane emissions by 30 percent by 2030 relative to 2020 levels.

Under the 2022 Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC), Viet Nam commits to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 15.8 percent unconditionally and up to 43.5 percent with international support compared to the business-as-usual (BAU) scenario by 2030./.
