National Assembly Chairman starts official visit to Iran
VGP - National Assembly (NA) Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue arrived in Tehran on August 8 morning, starting his official visit to Iran at an invitation of Speaker of the Iranian Parliament (Majlis) Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf.
Right after landing in Tehran, Vuong was welcomed by Deputy Speaker of the Iranian parliament Mojtaba Zolnouri, Chairman of the Iran-Viet Nam Friendship Association Jalil Rahimi Jahanabadi, and Vietnamese Ambassador to Iran Luong Quoc Huy.
During his official visit to Iran, the top Vietnamese legislator is expected to hold talks and pay courtesy visits on Iranian senior leaders.
Vuong will attend and deliver a speech at a law and policy forum to boost economic, trade and investment cooperation between Viet Nam and Iran.
He will make a presentation at the Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS) of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs; participate in an opening ceremony of a Vietnamese culture week, and visit a number of economic, scientific and technological facilities in Tehran and Isfahan.
The top legislator's trip is taking place on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Viet Nam-Iran diplomatic ties.
In a recent interview, Vietnamese Ambassador to Iran Luong Quoc Huy said that the visit reflects the importance that the Vietnamese Party, NA, and Government attach to the friendship and cooperation with Iran.
The diplomat underlined the significance of the visit, saying that it offers an occasion to review cooperation achievements between the two countries over the last five decades, and discuss measures and orientations to create breakthroughs in the bilateral relations in the coming years./.
