VGP - President of the Republic of Mozambique, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, and his spouse, will pay an official visit to Viet Nam from September 8 to 10, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Thursday.
The visit is made at the invitation of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee and the President of Viet Nam To Lam and his spouse.
Viet Nam and Mozambique set up diplomatic relations on June 25, 1975.
Over the past years, the traditional friendship and cooperative relations between the two countries have developed positively thanks to regular exchange of high-level visits, including a Mozambique visit last year by Vice President of Viet Nam Vo Thi Anh Xuan.
The two countries have signed many cooperation agreements across various fields, including political diplomacy, economics, trade, investment, agriculture, fisheries, science and technology, telecommunications, health, education and training, culture, security and defense, finance, banking, and local cooperation.
They have established and maintained important cooperation mechanisms such as the Intergovernmental Committee and political consultations at the Deputy Foreign Minister level.
Economic, trade, and investment cooperation is a major pillar in bilateral relations. In 2022, two-way trade turnover between the two countries surpassed US$177 million, a year-on-year increase of 16 percent./.
