The Ninth National Buddhist Congress takes place in the Capital City of Ha Noi from November 28-29

Under the theme "Discipline - Responsibility - Solidarity - Development", the Congress is expected to summarize and evaluate Buddhist achievements and sketch tasks for the Viet Nam Buddhist Sangha over the next five years.

The delegates will conduct a ceremony to honor His Holiness the Dharma Master and the Council of Proofs; Nominate the President and Executive Council for the term 2022-2027.

One of the focuses of this Congress is the amendment of the Charter, upholding discipline and precepts to preserve and honor Buddhist values in modern society.

This includes defining common property and personal property and more transparent regulations on granting land use right certificates to pagodas.

Among the 12 general program goals in the new term (2022-2027) discussed at Congress, the task of "Upholding discipline and precepts" is the top priority.

Most Venerable Thich Hue Thong, Deputy Secretary General and Chief of Office II of the Viet Nam Buddhist Sangha said: "If a Buddhist monk does not observe the precepts, he will immediately cease to be the essence of a monastic bhikkhu".

"To avoid the situation where monks violate the precepts, the monks place great importance on the issue of precepts to keep them dignified", he stated./.
