Mongolia places top importance on relations with Viet Nam: Top legislator Sandag Byambatsogt

The two legislators expressed their satisfaction at the strong, substantive and effective development of Viet Nam–Mongolia relations, particularly since the establishment of the Comprehensive Partnership in September 2024 during the State visit to Mongolia by General Secretary and President To Lam.
They vowed to strengthen the role of the two legislative bodies in promoting substantive and effective connectivity between the two economies, consider further opening their markets to each other's goods, including facilitating the entry of Viet Nam's key agricultural and seafood products into the Mongolian market, thereby helping achieve the target of raising bilateral trade turnover to US$200 million at an early date.
Both sides underlined the need to step up investment promotion activities and work toward the early signing of a new agreement on the promotion and protection of investments between Viet Nam and Mongolia.
The two countries still have significant potential and room for development, not only in economic, trade and investment areas but also in culture, sports, tourism, education and training, and people-to-people exchanges, they noted.
Both sides pledged to expand cultural, sports and tourism exchanges to enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples.
The two legislators concurred to increase all-level delegation exchanges between the two parliaments and maintain close coordination at regional and international parliamentary forums of which both countries are members.
They underlined the need to effectively perform their oversight functions, ensuring the implementation of high-level agreements and creating favorable conditions for the two governments and businesses to strengthen economic and trade ties and bolster investment in areas where the two sides have potential and needs for cooperation.
The two sides also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern, stating to enhance close cooperation and mutual support at regional and international forums, including multilateral parliamentary forums.
Byambatsogt affirmed that Mongolia would create favorable conditions for Vietnamese businesses to explore the market and make stable, long-term investments in the country.
He suggested Viet Nam would support Mongolia's bid to become a member of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum, expressing confidence that Viet Nam will successfully host the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in Phu Quoc next year.
Meanwhile, Tran reiterated that Viet Nam supports Mongolia's development policies to promote its international role and standing in the region and the world.
Following the talks, the two legislators signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the National Assembly of Viet Nam and the State Great Hural of Mongolia.
Under the MoU, the two legislative bodies will strengthen collaboration, contributing to the effective implementation of the orientations and agreements reached by their senior leaders and promoting the substantive and effective development of the Comprehensive Partnership between Viet Nam and Mongolia.
They also witnessed the signing of a MoU on cooperation between the Offices of the two parliaments./.
