Members of National Council for Sustainable Development named
VGP - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has signed a decision approving the list of members of the National Council for Sustainable Development.
Accordingly, the Council will be led by Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long who will be assisted by Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung as the Vice Chairman.
The Council comprises 30 members who are leaders of the Ministry of Public Security, the Office of the Government, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Construction, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Government Inspectorate, the State Bank of Viet Nam, the Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs, the Viet Nam Television, the Voice of Viet Nam, the Viet Nam Academy of Social Sciences, the Viet Nam Academy of Science and Technology, the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communication and Education, the Party Central Committee's Economic Commission, the Viet Nam Fatherland Front, the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Viet Nam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD) and the Viet Nam small and medium enterprises association (VINASME).
Earlier, the Government chief signed Decision No.560/QD-TTg, dated on June 25 on the establishment of the National Council for Sustainable Development. The Council is tasked to assist the Prime Minister in developing and organizing the implementation of guidelines, strategies, mechanisms and policies to implement sustainable development as well as global commitments on sustainable development in Viet Nam, including the National action plan to realize the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The Council will also evaluate the results of sustainable development implementation on a national scale and periodically organize national conferences on sustainable development./.
