The report is a cooperation product between the Department of Electricity and Renewable Energy, under the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Danish Department of Energy with the support of the Danish Embassy.

The report provides a scenario-based foundation to support policy decisions by clarifying the outlook for Viet Nam's energy system development to 2050.

Compared with the previous publications in 2017 and 2019, the Energy Outlook 2021 Report presents energy prospect scenarios with different input figures and assumptions to study the possibilities of ensuring energy security to boost socio-economic development for Viet Nam.

It also aims to promote the transition of a green and sustainable energy system to achieve Viet Nam's commitments with the world in the field of energy and respond to climate change towards the goal of net zero emissions by 2050.

Viet Nam has come a long way in its green transition, as demonstrated by its commitment to net zero emissions by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26), said Director General of the Danish Energy Agency (DEA) Kristoffer Bottzauw at the meeting on Viet Nam's energy outlook held on the same day.

"Through the report, which has been developed in close cooperation with Vietnamese authorities in the energy sector, we look forward to sharing how to achieve this goal on time and at low cost as low as possible for the benefit of the country, the people and especially the global climate", highlighted Kristoffer Bottzauw.
