Lao Prime Minister to pay official visit to Viet Nam this week
VGP - Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone and his spouse will pay an official visit to Viet Nam from January 6-7 at the invitation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
During the visit, the Lao PM will co-chair the 46th meeting of the Viet Nam-Laos Inter-Governmental Committee, announced the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In 2024, Viet Nam and Laos mark the 62nd anniversary of their diplomatic relations and the 47th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation.
Total trade turnover between Viet Nam and Laos in 2022 rose by 24 percent to US$1.7 billion. Viet Nam's exports to Laos witnessed sizable growth, hitting US$656 million, up 10.4 percent while its import value increased by 34.6 percent to US$1.047 billion.
By the end of 2022, Laos received over US$5.34 billion invested by Viet Nam for 239 projects, consistently ranking first among 78 countries and territories getting Viet Nam's investment./.
