Prime Minister meets Cambodian, Lao counterparts
VGP - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a working breakfast with his Lao and Cambodian counterparts, Sonexay Siphandone and Samdech Techo Hun Manet, on the occasion of the 43rd ASEAN Summit and related meetings in Jakarta, Indonesia, on September 5.
The leaders vowed to maintain regular bilateral and tripartite exchanges and meetings to tighten solidarity, friendship and cooperation.
They pledged to strengthen the effectiveness of existing trilateral cooperation mechanisms, including the organization the 13th Cambodia-Laos-Viet Nam Summit on Development Triangle Area and the first meeting of the Chairmen of the National Assemblies of the three countries in Laos this year.
The Prime Ministers agreed to promote people-to-people exchanges and training of youth and young leaders to nurture the relations between the three sides.
They hailed developments in security and defense cooperation, consenting to continue realizing current cooperation agreements and mechanisms, strengthen information sharing and improve the effectiveness of coordination in preventing cybercrimes and trans-border crimes.
The Government leaders underscored the importance of adopting polices and measures to boost cooperation in trade and investment, with a focus on border trade and promote the land border gate system between the three countries.
They agreed that the three countries should enhance linkages between the three economies, including hard and soft infrastructures, supply chains and productions, and endorse collaboration in tourism.
Prime Minister Pham reiterated that Viet Nam always gives priority to cooperation with Laos and Cambodia, suggesting the three countries should be resolved to soon complete the demarcation and planting of landmarks in order to build and maintain the border of peace, friendship, cooperation and development, for the interests of their people and nations./.
