Landslides leave two dead, two missing in Ha Giang province
VGP – At least one person was killed in a commune in the northern province of Ha Giang on Sunday morning following a massive landslide induced by heavy rain, Ha Giang newspaper reported.
The landslide occurred on the national route No. 2 at around 10 a.m on September 29, in the area of Viet Vinh commune in Ha Giang's Bac Quang district, resulting in a large volume of mud and rock cascading down onto residential areas and the roadway.
Five residential houses collapsed and six vehicles, including a passenger bus, two trucks, and three cars were swept away.
The same day, Ha Giang Newspaper reported another severe landslide in Ban Buot village of Bac Quang district's Dong Tam commune, killing a primary pupil.
Local authorities are unable to access the landslide area due to heavy rain and rising flood water./.
