Speaking at the press briefing on January 8, the Spokeswoman said that despite global volatility, weak international demand, and severe climate-induced disasters domestically, Viet Nam has stood out as a regional "bright spot" for macroeconomic stability and robust growth under the decisive and timely leadership of the Party and Government.

She noted that in 2025, Viet Nam achieved and outperformed all 15 major socio-economic development targets.

The macroeconomy remained broadly stable, inflation was controlled, key balances were safeguarded, and growth momentum strengthened. GDP expanded by 8.46 percent in the fourth quarter, bringing full-year growth rate to an estimated 8.02 percent. The economy reached a scale of US$514 billion ranking 32nd globally.

GDP income per capita rose to US$5,026— an increase of US$326 from 2024 — placing Viet Nam in the upper-middle-income bracket.

Trade turnover reached a new high of US$930 billion, up 18.2 percent year-on-year, keeping Viet Nam among the world's top 20 trading nations.

Meanwhile, FDI disbursement increased to US$27.62 billion, a 9 percent increase and the highest level recorded since 2021.

International economists and investors considered Viet Nam one of the most resilient and dynamic growth performers amid a subdued global economy. The IMF ranked Viet Nam among the world's 10 fastest-growing economies.

Global observers also praised the sustained expansion of core drivers — trade, investment and tourism — as well as the rise of new growth engines, including digital transformation, innovation, science-technology advancement, and emerging development spaces, which are shaping long-term foundations for the next phase of national growth.

Looking ahead, the Spokesperson affirmed that Viet Nam will continue to prioritize institutional reforms to enhance transparency, consistency and equity, streamline administrative structures, and sustain growth while reinforcing macroeconomic stability and inflation control.

She added that the country will also accelerate a new growth paradigm centered on science-technology, innovation and digital transformation, develop strategic infrastructure, strengthen high-quality human capital, and elevate living standards while ensuring social security and welfare./.
