Industrial production posts double-digit growth in first seven months
VGP - Viet Nam's Index of Industrial Production (IIP) rose 11.4 percent in the first seven months of 2026 compared to the same period last year, according to the National Statistics Office (NSO).
The robust expansion was driven by newly commissioned production capacity and the continued recovery of manufacturing and business activities.
In July alone, the IIP was estimated to increase 1.2 percent from the previous month and 14.5 percent year-on-year. Manufacturing and processing expanded 15 percent, followed by water supply and waste management (up 14.9 percent), electricity production and distribution (up 12.5 percent), and mining (up 10.4 percent).
Industrial production expanded across all 34 provinces and centrally governed cities during the January–July period, largely driven by manufacturing and electricity production.
The recovery in industrial production also boosted employment. As of July 1, the number of employees working in industrial enterprises increased one percent from the previous month and 3.1 percent compared to the same period last year./.
