Viet Nam's industrial production hits six-year high

VGP - Viet Nam's Industrial Production Index (IIP) was estimated to increase by 9.2 percent in 2025, marking the highest growth rate since 2019.

Of the figure, the manufacturing and processing sector rose 10.5 percent, contributing 8.4 percentage points to the overall growth; the electricity production and distribution sector up 6.7 percent; the water supply, waste management, and wastewater treatment sector up 7.8 percent; and mining sector up 0.5 percent.

During the year, there were 195,100 newly established enterprises nationwide, with total registered capital of VND 1,919.2 trillion (over US$73 billion), employing 1,151,400 workers, witnessing an increase of 24.1 percent in the number of enterprises, a 24.1 percent rise in registered capital, and a 15 percent increase in employment compared with the previous year.

The average registered capital per new enterprise reached VND 9.8 billion (US$373,000), unchanged from 2024.

In addition, 102,300 enterprises resumed operations nationwide, up 34.3 percent, bringing the total number of newly established and resumed enterprises in the year to 297,500, up 27.4 percent.

Meanwhile, the number of enterprises temporarily suspending operations for a fixed period hit 114,400, up 14.3 percent./.
