HCMC-Long Thanh-Dau Giay expressway starts electronic toll collection from tomorrow
VGP - Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) systems on the HCMC-Long Thanh-Dau Giay expressway will begin on July 26, five days ahead of the Government’s prestset deadline of August 1.
Connecting HCMC and neighboring Dong Nai Province, the 55km expressway has a high traffic flow rate, especially along the 24km HCMC-Long Thanh section.
Data showed around 50,000 vehicles pass through the expressway.
The Government has been pushing for the installation of ETC systems on all toll roads nationwide to facilitate traffic flow and boost toll collection transparency, with the deadline set for August 1.
ETC systems enable road users to pay the toll automatically without stopping when passing toll gates, helping reduce traffic congestion at toll stations.
Earlier, the Viet Nam Expressway Corporation (VEC) on June 7 signed an agreement for a 64-month toll collection service package with the VETC Electronic Toll Collection Company.
Under the VND694 billion deal, VETC will complete installing ETC systems by July 31 for the HCMC-Long Thanh-Dau Giay expressway and three others managed by VEC – Cau Gie-Ninh Binh, Noi Bai-Lao Cai and Da Nang-Quang Ngai.
The four expressways have a total of 155 lanes for toll collection, and 140 of them will have ETC systems installed.
At a meeting on May 17, Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh said that after July 31, vehicles could pass the tollgates without having to pay a toll fee if there are no ETC systems there./.
