This is part of conclusion of Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh on ETC system deployment.

The Deputy Prime Minister tasked the Ministry of Transport, provincial and municipal local authorities to direct investors and ETC providers to early install automatic toll collection plazas so that by June 30, only a mixture lane of automatic and cash payment is allowed in every toll collection station.

The Ministry of Transport reported that about 3 million out of nearly 5 million vehicles in Viet Nam have been equipped with automatic toll payment tags (etag).

Etag service providers were asked to arrange points to sell the etag across 63 provinces and cities, creating convenience for drivers.

People now can deposit money into traffic accounts via e-wallets and banks.

There are 112 toll stations nationwide that have installed a non-stop toll collection system, including 69 toll gates managed by the Ministry of Transport while local governments manage 43 stations.

The State-owned Viet Nam Expressway Corporation (VEC) currently manages four highway projects including Noi Bai – Lao Cai, Da Nang – Quang Ngai, HCM City - Long Thanh – Dau Giay, Ben Luc - Long Thanh but none of them have ETC lanes.

Earlier, the State-owned Viet Nam Expressway Corporation (VEC) announced a plan to implement automatic non-stop toll collection (ETC) on all five expressways under its management across the country by the third quarter this year./.
