Ha Noi to install 261 AI surveillance cameras by December 18
VGP - By December 18, 2025, a total of 261 AI-powered surveillance cameras will be fully operational in Ha Noi, replacing traffic police in monitoring traffic, detecting violations, and identifying suspects automatically, according to Lieutenant General Nguyen Manh Tung, head of the Ha Noi Department of Public Security.

Nguyen made the announcement at a meeting on the new AI system, which is expected to help local authorities manage traffic without the need for physical police presence.
The AI-equipped camera system, featuring 10 integrated functions, has already been installed across the Vietnamese capital.
These cameras offer capabilities such as facial recognition, license plate detection, lane management, and crowd monitoring.
"From the command center, we can monitor areas as far as Ben Duc near Huong Pagoda (located in suburban Ha Noi) and even identify individual passengers on boats," the police chief said.
Importantly, the system is expected to be fully operational ahead of Viet Nam's 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2).
In the second phase, scheduled for the third quarter of 2026, the system will be further enhanced to identify environmental violations.
By June 2026, the AI network will be able to automatically detect improper waste disposal and sidewalk violations, contributing to more orderly public behavior./.
