Ha Noi-HCMC becomes busiest air route since COVID-19 outbreak
VGP – The Ha Noi-Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) has become the busiest air route in the world since the COVID-19 outbreak, the Viet Nam News Agency quoted the Center for Asia-Pacific Aviation as saying.
It was followed by Jeju-Seoul of the Republic of Korea and Tokyo-Hokkaido of Japan.
The new position was established partly due to flight ticket promotion programs introduced by four domestic airlines since the outbreak of the COVID-19.
At present, Viet Nam airlines, Bamboo Airway and two low-cost airlines, Vietjet Air and Jetstar Pacific, could provide flights between Noi Bai International Airport and Tan Son Nhat Airport with nearly 270,000 seats per week, up 39% against the same period last year.
Some 6.7 million passengers flew between the two cities in 2017, making the route the seventh busiest, according to U.K. newspaper The Telegraph.
