Gov't issues new criteria for identifying low-income workers
VGP - The government has just promulgated Decree No. 30/2025/NĐ-CP on criteria for identifying low-income workers eligible for support under the national target program for sustainable poverty reduction in the 2021–2025 period.
Under this decree, a low-income worker is defined as an individual with an average monthly income of VND2.25 million (or US$88.27) in rural areas and VND3 million (or US$117.7) in urban areas.
The average income of Vietnamese workers has increased to VND8.5 million (US$333.5) per month in 2024, up VND1.9 million (US$74.5) compared to 2020, according to the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs.
The unemployment rate in urban areas remained low, below 3 percent, while the rate of trained workers was estimated to reach 69 percent.
The poverty rate according to the multidimensional poverty standard stayed below one per cent in 2024.
The poverty rate in poor districts is about 26 percent, while the poverty rate of ethnic minority households is below 13.5 percent, told the ministry./.
