Eight million tourists recorded during just-ended holidays
VGP - The tourism sector served about 8 million tourists during the five-day holiday from April 27 to May 1, up 14.2 percent year on year, the Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism reported.
Of the figure, 3.6 million stayed overnight and the average room occupancy at accommodation establishments nationwide was up to 70 percent, or even 100 percent in some coastal destinations.
Most key tourist areas across the country have recorded positive signs with a high increase in the number of tourists compared to the same period in 2023.
Thanh Hoa topped the country with 1.52 million visitors, with a growth rate of 27.2 percent year and a revenue of VND3.805 trillion (US$152 million), followed by Quang Ninh and Khanh Hoa with more than 1 million and nearly 970,000 visitors, respectively.
For this year's holiday, localities carefully prepared tourism activities, stimulating tourism demand and offering discounts and product promotions. Typical events are the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festival, VITM Ha Noi International Tourism Fair, and the 2024 tourist attraction stimulus program "Quang Nam - Heritage Green Region".
The National Administration of Tourism said that this year's holiday lasted five days, so most destinations welcomed more visitors and reproted higher revenue than in 2023. Notably, the number of international visitors remained high even though the peak season has passed.
Additionally, to adapt to rising domestic airfare prices, many travel companies have diversified their tour types by increasing high-quality car tours for short distances, combining means of train, car, and waterway for long distances./.
