EC recognizes Viet Nam’s Digital COVID certification
VGP - The European Commission has accepted digital COVID certificates of Viet Nam, Indonesia, and Seychelles.
The digital COVID certificates of the three countries will be connected to the EU Digital COVID certificate system.
In addition, Viet Nam, Indonesia, Seychelles also accepted the EU’s Digital COVID certification issued to EU citizens upon arrival in their countries.
With the accession of Viet Nam, Indonesia and Seychelles, the number of countries and territories connected to the EU system has increased to 67, said European Commissioner for Justice Didier Reynders.
The pandemic situation is improving and the certificate remains a useful tool for many destinations, for example, in case of testing requirements, he added.
According to the announcement published by the EC, the decision will take effect starting from May 11.
The Vietnamese health ministry started to issue vaccine passports from April 15 to the general public in line with its schedule.
Viet Nam has reached agreements on mutual recognition of vaccine passports with 19 countries: Japan, the US, the UK, Australia, India, Belarus, Cambodia, the Philippines, Palestine, Maldives, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Egypt, Turkey, Singapore, Saint Lucia, the Republic of Korea, Iran and Malaysia.
By May 9, Viet Nam had injected 215,839,208 doses of COVID-19 vaccines, including 1,885,548first shots for children from 5 to 11 years old.
