Deputy PM meets Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region

Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc (L) meets Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region John Lee Ka-chiu, Hong Kong, December 19, 2025

Ho made that above statement during his meeting with Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region John Lee Ka-chiu as part of his working visit to Hong Kong on December 19.

The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed Viet Nam advocates Hong Kong's prosperous and stable development and the happiness of its people and expects to promote and deepen friendly exchanges and comprehensive cooperation with Hong Kong in the fields of economy, trade, investment, finance, and tourism.

Lee, for his part, reiterated that the Hong Kong Administration and business community have strong confidence in Viet Nam's potential and development prospects and in Hong Kong–Viet Nam relations as well.

He expressed his hope to strengthen cooperation with Viet Nam in culture, education, tourism, and labor, calling on both sides to coordinate effectively within multilateral economic cooperation mechanisms and frameworks of which both sides are members.

To further strengthen cooperation in the coming period, the two sides vowed to work together to effectively implement the common perceptions reached by the senior leaders of Viet Nam and China, as well as the outcomes of visits between leaders of Viet Nam and Hong Kong.

They pledged to intensify all-level delegation exchanges and visits, improve the quality and effectiveness of cooperation in economy, trade, investment, and finance, and promote strategic connectivity cooperation.

Hong Kong stands ready to share its experience in financial and monetary policy management, especially in the establishment and operation of a gold trading exchange and encouraging its enterprises to invest in Viet Nam in areas such as infrastructure, innovation, digital economy, green economy, circular economy, energy transition, and connectivity between the two stock markets, while supporting Vietnamese enterprises in listing on the Hong Kong market.

The two sides underlined the need to foster collaboration in citizen protection, judicial cooperation, and law enforcement./.
