Deputy PM hosts Special Envoy of Palestinian President
VGP - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son hosted a reception for Riad Malki, Advisor for International Affairs and Special Envoy of the President of Palestine, in Ha Noi on Wednesday.
Bui reiterated that Viet Nam always attaches importance to the relations with traditional partners, including Palestine, adding that Viet Nam shares the immense harships and challenges that the State and people of Palestine are enduring in the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip.
He called for an immediate and lasting ceasefire to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure, and for enhancement of humanitarian aid efforts to provide essential support to the Palestinian people.
The Deputy Prime Minister reaffirmed Viet Nam's consistent stance of strongly supporting the two-state solution, which includes the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine, based on the pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.
Viet Nam, within its capacity, stands ready to work with the international community and join common efforts to provide humanitarian assistance and to build capacity for Palestine, stated Bui.
Malki, for his part, thanked the Southeast Asian nation for its steadfast solidarity and consistent support for the Palestinian people's just struggle.
He expressed his hope that the international community, including Viet Nam, will continue to promote efforts for reconciliation, resolve disputes via peaceful means, and enhance humanitarian aid to the people in the Gaza Strip.
Both sides pledged to bolster collaboration in potential areas such as trade, education, science and technology, agriculture, and strengthen cultural exchanges and people-to-people linkages.
They underscored the need to accelerate the implementation of bilateral cooperation mechanisms, including the political consultation between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs, and speed up negotiations and the signing of agreements that facilitate cooperation between the two countries./.
