Palestine to further develop friendly relations with Viet Nam
VGP - President Mahmoud Abbas highlighted the strong friendship between the two countries, showed his admiration for Viet Nam's development achievements and wished to develop the traditional friendship with Viet Nam further.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Egypt and Palestine Nguyen Huy Dung presented his credentials to Palestine's President Mahmoud Abbas in an online ceremony held at the Palestinian Embassy in Cairo on June 25.
Expressing his honor to become the Vietnamese Ambassador to Palestine, Ambassador Dung pledged to work hard to reinforce and develop the traditional friendship between Viet Nam and Palestine.
The Ambassador conveyed the cordial greetings of President Vo Van Thuong and senior leaders of Viet Nam to President Mahmoud Abbas, and briefed the Palestinian President on socio-economic achievements as well as outstanding results that Viet Nam has gained over more than 35 years implementing the "Doi Moi" (Renewal) scheme.
Also, he affirmed that Viet Nam always supports the just cause as well as efforts to promote peace and development of Palestinian people.
President Abbas welcomed Ambassador Nguyen Huy Dung to take office in the State of Palestine.
At the same time, the President wished the Dung to successfully complete his duties, contributing to consolidating and developing the friendly and cooperative relationship between Viet Nam and Palestine.
On behalf of President Abbas, Palestinian Ambassador to Cairo Diab Allouh received the credentials from Ambassador Dung.
Vietnam recognized the Palestine State and established diplomatic relations with Palestine on November 19, 1988. In 2012, Viet Nam voted in favor of the Resolution granting Palestine non-member observer state status at the United Nations General Assembly.
Besides, Viet Nam supports Palestine in joining international organizations such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), to name but a few./.
