Tran made the above suggestion while receiving Deputy Director General of the AFD Marie-Hélène Loison in Ha Noi on May 17.

Tran asserted that Viet Nam attaches importance to the relations with France and other EU member states and wishes to strengthen Viet Nam-France strategic partnership.

He hailed the operation of the AFD in Viet Nam, asking the agency to continue to support the country in such as areas as green transition in urban, railway, and maritime transport.

The Government is discussing with partners to soon pilot a number of offshore wind power projects, and encourage the participation of the private sector in renewable electricity production through direct power purchase agreements, he shared.

Marie-Hélène Loison, for her side, affirmed that AFD and its partners stand ready to provide technical assistance, improve the legal corridor, and seek financial sources to support Viet Nam's crucial socio-economic development programs and projects, especially in spheres of energy conversion, climate change response, and green transition.

Since 2019, AFD has coordinated with the Vietnamese side to carry out a project to evaluate the socio-economic impacts of climate change in Viet Nam and the climate change adaptation strategy.

The two sides have launched Phase 2 of the project with priority given to assessing the socio-economic impacts of the energy transition process in the Southeast Asian country./.
