Deputy PM, Defense Minister hosts Undersecretary of UAE Ministry of Defense

Phan said, the Government, the Ministry of National Defense, and the Viet Nam People's Army consistently attach importance to strengthening friendship and expanding cooperation with the Government, the Ministry of Defense, and the Armed Forces of the UAE, in line with the legitimate interests of their peoples and for the sake of peace, stability, cooperation, and development in each country, the region, and the world.

Defense cooperation plays an important role in building mutual trust and further promoting Viet Nam–UAE relations, he noted.

In 2025, leaders of Viet Nam's Ministry of National Defense visited the UAE twice, attending the Dubai Airshow 2025.

During these visits, the two sides signed a Letter of Intent on defense cooperation, laying a solid foundation for advancing bilateral defense cooperation to a new stage, in line with the common understandings reached by their senior leaders and commensurate with the Viet Nam–UAE Comprehensive Partnership.

Phan expressed his hope that the two sides would continue to promote Viet Nam–UAE defense cooperation in a practical and effective manner, focusing on all-level delegation exchanges; training; participation in United Nations peacekeeping operations; military medicine; logistics; non-traditional security; and mutual support, and coordination at multilateral forums.

He took the occasion to extend an invitation to the leadership of the UAE Ministry of Defense, as well as UAE defense industry groups and companies, to attend the 3rd Viet Nam International Defense Expo, which is scheduled to take place in Ha Noi in December this year.

Al Alawi, for his part, hailed the increasing role of Viet Nam in the global stage, expecting that the bilateral ties, in general and the bilateral defense cooperation, in particular, would be upgraded into a higher level./.
