Bui congratulated Rubio on his appointment as the U.S. Secretary of State, reaffirming that the U.S. is a comprehensive strategic partner of top importance of Viet Nam.
Bui appreciated the U.S. support for a strong, independent, self-reliant and prosperous Viet Nam, expressing his wish that both sides would continue close coordination to further promote the contents of cooperation within the framework of the Viet Nam-U.S. comprehensive strategic partnership to bring practical benefits to the people of the two countries and contribute to ensuring peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
Bui took the occasion to convey congratulations from the leaders of the Party, State and Government of Viet Nam to President Donald Trump and Vice President James David Vance.
Rubio, for his apart, spoke highly of the solid foundations of the Viet Nam-U.S. relationship which has been built on shared interests, expressing his wish that the two countries would continue to consolidate the comprehensive strategic partnership on the occasion of the 30th founding anniversary of diplomatic relations (1995-2025).
He affirmed that the Viet Nam-U.S. relationship is a typical model in international relations and both countries share many common interests which serve as the basis for the sides to further advance the relationship in the coming time.
Both sides agreed to coordinate in enhancing the exchange of high-level delegations, especially in 2025 when the two countries mark the 30th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties.
The two sides discussed ways to promote efforts in overcoming the consequences of war, maintain growth momentum of economic-trade-investment cooperation, and foster science, technology, defense and security cooperation for the benefits of the people of the two countries.
Both sides also discussed the importance of promoting the ASEAN-U.S, strategic partnership, the Mekong-U.S. partnership, the central role of ASEAN, and the situation in the East Sea, while highlighting the need to strengthen dialogue and positive contributions to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region.
On the occasion, Bui reiterated his invitation to Rubio to visit Viet Nam. The latter accepted the invitation with pleasure and expressed his wish to soon visit Viet Nam.
Rubio, on behalf of the U.S. leaders, extended New Year greetings to the leaders and people of Viet Nam on the occasion of the Viet Nam's traditional lunar New Year 2025./.
