Constructions begins on three important highways

VGP - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Sunday attended the ground-breaking ceremony of three major national transport projects in Ho Chi Minh City.

The projects comprise Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road 3, the first phase of the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway, and the first phase of the Khanh Hoa-Buon Ma Thuot Expressway.

These projects with total length of nearly 250km has combined investment capital of VND 115 trillion (US$4.8 billion).

Addressing the ceremony, Prime Minister Pham commended the efforts by Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Long An, and Ba Ria-Vung Tau to accelerate site clearance and provide resettlement support for the people affected by the projects. 

Pham called upon the local authorities to devise plans to implement the projects and tasked the local leaders to closely oversee the projects throughout the implementation processes.

He also asked relevant ministries to coordinate with Ho Chi Minh City, Long An, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak to promptly settle arising difficulties.

Ho Chi Minh Ring Road No.3 is 76km long, passing through four localities including HCM City, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, and Long An. The project is divided into eight components, with each province/city implementing two components including land clearance and construction.

The preliminary total investment capital for the project is about VND 75.378 trillion (US$3.2 billion) sourced from both the central and local budgets.

Once completed, the road will have eight lanes, allowing vehicles to run at a speed of 100 km per hour.

The Khanh Hoa-Buon Ma Thuot expressway project has a total length of about 117.5 km and a total investment of nearly VND22 trillion (nearly $935 million). 

The project is expected to complete in 2026 and put into operation in 2027.

The Bien Hoa-Vung Tau expressway project has a total length of nearly 54 km. It is scheduled to complete in 2025 and put into operation in 2026./.
