China donates additional 3.5 million COVID-19 vaccine doses to Viet Nam
VGP - A signing ceremony for the donation of over 3.5 million doses of Vero-Cell COVID-19 vaccine and 3.85 million single-use syringes by the Chinese Government for Viet Nam was held virtually on April 8.
The agreement to this effect was signed by Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Health Tran Van Thuan and Chinese Vice Minister of Commerce Qian Keming.
This is the fourth round of China's vaccine and medical equipment donation for Viet Nam so far.
Addressing the ceremony, Tran thanked the Chinese Government and people for the donation as well as the Chinese Embassy in Viet Nam for transporting the vaccine and medical supplies to Viet Nam.
Vero-Cell COVID-19 vaccine produced by Sinopharm has been used in over 70 countries, including many Southeast Asian countries such as Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.
As of April 7, 207,379,359 COVID-19 vaccine doses were administered in the country, reported the Ministry of Health.
More than 68 million people aged over 18 were fully vaccinated while over 49 million ones got the booster shots.
