Ceremony held in Ha Noi to mark 250th anniversary of U.S. Independence Day
VGP – Viet Nam and the U.S. reaffirmed their commitment to further cementing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in a stable, substantive and effective manner at a ceremony marking the 250th anniversary of U.S. Independence Day held in Ha Noi on July 8.

Speaking at the event, Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung extended congratulations to the Administration and people of the U.S. on the anniversary and praised the country's remarkable achievements over the past 250 years.
He noted that the U.S. has become one of the world's leading powers and a key driver of global economic growth, innovation, and scientific and technological advancement. He expressed confidence that a strong and prosperous U.S. would continue contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development around the world.
Reviewing the development of bilateral ties, Le highlighted major milestones, including the normalization of relations in 1995, the establishment of the Comprehensive Partnership in 2013, and the elevation of bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2023.
Welcoming the U.S. commitment to supporting a strong, independent, self-reliant and prosperous Viet Nam, the minister voiced confidence that the two countries would open up a new chapter of cooperation based on respect for each other's independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and political systems, as well as mutual benefit.
He also reaffirmed that Viet Nam and ASEAN hope the U.S. would continue to play a constructive and responsible role in promoting peace, stability, the rule of law, and inclusive and sustainable development in the region and beyond.
Addressing the ceremony, newly appointed U.S. Ambassador to Viet Nam Jennifer Wicks said she was honored to begin her tenure in Viet Nam as the U.S. celebrates the 250th anniversary of its Independence Day.
She noted that the two countries have overcome differences from the past to build a strong and dynamic relationship, expressing confidence that the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership will continue to advance through a forward-looking agenda.
According to the Ambassador, Viet Nam and the U.S. have ample opportunities to expand cooperation in such areas as economy and trade, politics, security, law enforcement, health care, and education, contributing to the achievement of their shared goals.
