VGP - The State Appraisal Council has approved an investment plan for the Ha Noi Urban Railway Project No. 5, with a total investment of over VND 65.4 trillion (US$ 2.7 billion) from city’s budget.
The No.5 metro will connect the west of the city with the central urban area, stretching from Van Cao, Ngoc Khanh, Lang and Hoa Lac, in the districts of Ba Dinh, Dong Da, Cau Giay, Nam Tu Liem, Hoai Duc, Quoc Oai, and Thach That.
The 38.43 km route will comprise 6.5 km underground, 2.0 km elevated and 29.93 km on the ground level and 21 stations.
The 21 stations include six underground stations, 14 above-ground stations and one elevated station.
The metro project will have two depots, one in Son Dong commune, Hoai Duc district, with an area of about 18 ha and the other one in Yen Binh commune, Thach That district, with an area of about 6.9 ha.
The project is anticipated to run 26 trains in 2025, 37 trains in 2035 and 38 trains in 2050.
It targets to materialize Prime Minister's Decision 519/QD-TTg approving the transportation planning of Ha Noi capital 2030 with a vision toward 2050.
Ha Noi's first metro project, Cat Linh-Ha Dong, has been in commercial operation since November last year. Trial operation of the second metro line, Nhon-Ha Noi Railway Station, is scheduled for the end of 2023, and the metro line could be operational by the end of 2027./.
