ASEAN should coordinate in education policy implementation
VGP - ASEAN Member States should coordinate in building and realizing education policies, said Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam while addressing the opening ceremony of the 12th ASEAN Education Ministers' Meeting in Ha Noi on October 13.
Participants to the event included the Education Ministers from ASEAN nations, representatives of the ASEAN Secretariat, Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) and the ASEAN University Network (AUN).
The Deputy Prime Minister reiterated that Viet Nam always regards education as its top national policy, spending 20 percent of the State budget for education.
Other ASEAN Member States also identify education as one of their own priorities and the priority of the whole ASEAN Community, he added.
Vu called on the regional nations to maintain the continuity of education activities while building a more flexible and resilient education system to cope with challenges which may cause learning interruption in the future.
He affirmed the Government's support for the Vietnamese Ministry of of Education and Training and other ministries, agencies and localities to accelerate the implementation of actions reached at the event in line with the ASEAN Community Vision 2025.
The 12th ASEAN Education Ministers Meeting is themed "Joint effort to reimagine learning and building resilience of education systems in ASEAN and beyond in the next context".
Delegates discussed education and training situations, shared practical lessons and experience and sought for further cooperation in favor of sustainable development in each nation, particularly in the post-COVID period./.
