Around 1.7 million unverified mobile numbers locked
VGP - Up to 1.67 million mobile subscribers have had their outgoing services locked as their owners have yet verified personal information in line with national database, according to the Ministry of Information and Communications.
As of April 1, of 3.84 million mobile numbers subjected to information verification, 2.17 million had contacted telecoms firms to update their requested data, accounting for 56.49 percent. The rest of 1.67 million numbers had been locked.
Accordingly, mobile subscribers are unable to make calls or send messages. They have 15 days to verify personal information with mobile network operators. If the data is then not yet updated another 30 days after that, the numbers' contracts will be terminated on May 15.
