AmCham pledges to accelerate Viet Nam’s energy transition
VGP - The American Chamber of Commerce in Viet Nam (AmCham) and its member companies want to partner on technology solutions and sustainable finance to accelerate Viet Nam's energy transition.
Chairman of the AmCham Viet Nam John Rockhold made that above statement during a talkshow hosted by the Viet Nam Government Portal on October 5.
According to John Rockhold, Viet Nam has managed various global challenges effectively, including the continuing pandemic, a sharp downturn in the global economy, and inflation in key inputs at the same time improving their credit rating with Moody that supports further FDI.
In a medium to long-term timeframe, it will be important that such macroeconomic measures are also aligned with Viet Nam's efforts to promote green growth and sustainability with a path toward net-zero emissions by 2050.
As investors assess Viet Nam's overall competitiveness, they will increasingly consider the country's enabling environment for achieving environmental, social, and governance objectives in their global supply chains.
Shift in Viet Nam's COVID-19 fight strategy is of great significance
Regarding one-year implementation of Government's Resolution 128/NQ-CP on safety flexibility and effective control of COVID19 pandemic in Viet Nam, John Rockhold said that the Resolution reflects a shift in Viet Nam's COVID-19 fight strategy which has also been widely adopted by many countries worldwide.
Most countries now accept "living with the virus," combating COVID-19 and developing the economy at the same time. The change in policy is of great significance in COVID-19 fight and economic recovery.
It was critical for the supply chains to remain operational and to attract the interest of foreign direct investment (FDI) companies now in to continue investing in Viet Nam.
AmCham member companies are global leaders in healthcare solutions and look forward to continue to work with Viet Nam, he said, adding that AmCham would welcome additional measures to restore mobility for business travelers, investors, and tourism.
The Prime Minister and Vietnamese Government generally has been very proactive at reaching out the concerns and recommendations of the business community, including the FDI community and AmCham specifically, both at the central and provincial level.
The AmCham Chairman said that he has been in five meetings so far this year discussing FDI with the Prime Minister.
Regular dialogue is important to provide real-time opportunities to resolve problems and adjust policies, but also to advance our shared priority and strategic interests in promoting innovation and sustainable development, he added.
"We are really appreciative of the Vietnamese government's support to the FDI community and AmCham", told John Rockhold./.
