South Korea remained the top tourist source market in the first half, with 5.3 million passengers, followed by China with 2.5 million passengers.

This year, the CAAV has set targets of transporting 78.3 million passengers, including 43.5 million foreigners, and 1.21 million tons of cargo, up 7.7 percent and 13.4 percent year-on-year, respectively.

So far, 63 foreign airlines and four Vietnamese airlines have completely restored their international flight network as before the COVID-19 pandemic and continued to open more flights to new markets in Central Asia, India, and Australia.

Domestic airlines have maintained their domestic flight network with 50 routes. Viet Nam Airlines holds the largest market share with 42 percent and, followed by Vietjet Air with 40 percent. The average seat utilization ratio is 84 percent.

During January-June, the international market fully recovered with an estimated 21.1 million foreign travelers, up 44.3 percent year-on-year and 3 percent compared to the period before the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic./.
